Yesterday I lost my Murph Dog. I never imagined how hard it would be to say goodbye. My heart aches. I wanted to post a few photos over the past years (they are mainly of him since I purchased my first digital camera when he was around 4) and memories I loved about Murphy. He was in my life for 10 1/2 years. Through all my ups and downs of finding myself. The wonderful thing about the love of a dog is they love you no matter how bad of a day you had, if you made somebody mad, or made a mistake, they just love you and I always felt that love from Murphy. He was loved by so many. I am a dog person and feel so blessed to have had such a wonderful dog in my life.
About the Murph Dog...boy did he have a funny personality. He loved to play fetch and he was good at it. His ball was like a pacifier to him. Here is a snap shot of him with his ball.
He loved to chase birds, squirrels in Texas, and lizards up our palm trees and would gnaw away on the branches thinking they hid under there. He loved loved loved swimming in water and fetching sticks. Murphy would sit patiently through a bath and not run away to wait for his favorite part to get dried with a towel and then get bushed. He was such a good dog. Here is a photo of him enjoying the water when we went camping. And one of him lying around the campsite.
He was funny when ever there was a camp fire or backyard fire he would chase the fire sparks for hours. Jump high in the air and try to catch them in his mouth.
This is one of my favorites he did all the time. He liked to watch TV, mainly the shows with dogs. Anytime he heard a dog on TV he would come right over and wait for him to show up on the screen and would sometime grawl and bark at the dog. It was super cute. Here is Murphy in his TV action.
Murphy loved car trips and riding in cars. He was a good road trip dog. He did love to snag the drivers seat if you step out of the car. He liked to show you who was the real dog in charge. Murphy was so good with kids. He was the best family dog. My niece Trinity just adored him. When she was around 2 she called him WEE WEE. Here is a last picture, about 4 weeks ago, of her and him.

Murphy developed allergies when he grew older and would shake and shake his head and a few times had to wear the cone of shame because he broke a blood vessel in his ear. He would run into stuff all the time when he had the cone on. It was kind of funny. These are a few pictures of him and his cone.
Murphy loved to get pet. When people came over and started petting him he wouldn't leave their side. He liked to put his paw on you to tell you he wanted more loving. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of him.
Murphy had a good long life. I thought he would be around another 3 years though at least make it tell 14. Murphy was gradually loosing weight for about 9 months. With his thick fur it didn't look like as much and seeing him everyday you didn't recognize it as much. I thought well he is more active now that he has more room to play in a big yard and he is getting older. Last Thursday I was giving him his last bath and just noticed a few things different in his gums and tongue color and took him in to the vet. It took one x-ray for them to know what was going on. Cancer...and it was everywhere. I started bawling. Just a week ago he was playing ball and acting like an older Murphy but not a sick Murphy. He declined rapidly over the next 5 days. You could tell he was in alot of pain and had a hard time taking his pain medication. It was time to let him go and be peaceful. I love you so much Murphy and you meant so much to me. Thanks for making my life so much more meaningful. I will miss you and your funny personality tremendously. I know you are playing ball with Hiro or swimming in a big lake and feeling healthy and happy. Goodbye Murphinator.
