Recycle Cell Phones!

Mike and I have collected a grave yard of cell phones that have died on us of the years.  I think having a toddler around cell phones become more prone to liquid spill damage, goo damage, drool damage and don't last as long. This last time we went in to our service provider I asked them if there was anything we can do with our old phones and he hand me this cool little baggy to recycle our phones!  I was so thrilled.  

 
Then searching around I found this cool website Recycle My Cell Phone. They have all this cool info on recycling cell phones.  I also had a friend tell me that there are places that will take your old cell phones and give you money for the parts...that is even cooler.  Just thought I would spread the word!

Now if anybody knows what I can do with the cell phone chargers that came with all those phone I will be a happy camper!

One Bag At A Time

A few weeks ago I posted about my awesome reusable bag:)  I found this amazing website One Bag At A Time that has statistics, facts, and pictures that depicts the importance of helping out a little.  I thought I would share a few of the facts.  The Problem:  14 plastic bags contain enough petroleum to drive your care one mile, 380 billion plastic bags and sacs are thrown away in America each year.      The Solution: use a reusable bag twice a week for 2 years and each bag will save enough petroleum to drive a car 60 miles, and you will save 832 plastic bags from going into a landfill.  Those are just a few things I learned from the site but I suggest looking at it yourself...it is pretty cool!

I thought I would share a picture of the just the top of my mountain of plastic bags in my pantry area. 

I have found some local grocery stores that are now recycling plastic bags and other things!!!!  So if you are like me and want to do a little bit to help the environment this is a great and easy way to start.  I am going to take a few bags in at a time when I do my grocery shopping and hopefully in a few months I won't have the mountain of plastic anymore:)

A Hip Green Bag!

Good Friday Everyone!  I am super excited to share with you this cool, hip, green bag I discovered last Friday!  Every now and then I decided that I am going to share some little tid bits on things we can all do to make a difference for our environment.  I must tell you in my pantry I have a mountain of plastic bags because I don't like to throw them away and the mountain almost reaches the ceiling so I started using green bags (by green bag I mean reusable).  I usually use them when I do my grocery shopping and you see them all over now, which is GOOD.  I was so excited last Friday when Mike and I went to Whole Foods and I saw their green bags, I fell in love!  They are the same price as all the others (usually a dollar) but they are oh so much cooler!  Their colorful, bright, cheery, how could anyone not want to take one of these into a store and use it as their grocery bag. When I first started using green bags for my shopping I would forget them at home all the time but now I am in the habit of leaving them in my car so they are with me where ever I go.
